Advice For Work From Our Favorite Fictional Characters

Written by Admin | Apr 22, 2020 9:50:00 PM

We can learn lots from our favorite TV show heroes! If you’re looking for guidance, our GIFs will bring you great advice for work. Avoid learning these office lessons the hard way.

Never underestimate the power of positive thinking:

Michael and Dwight from The Office have taught us lots about the workplace. While “staying positive” might come across as cheesy advice for work, it is amongst the most valued qualities by employers.

Why? In addition to contributing to a pleasant work environment, positive thinking has been shown to increase productivity. It has the power to reduce stress, improve time-management, and promote creative problem-solving.

How can you become a more positive person? We recommend practicing gratitude on a daily basis and setting aside time to for hobbies.

Try not to panic on your first day at work:

We all understand how stressful the first day can be at a new job or internship. Remember that everyone you work with has had at least one first day. Hence, the first day is a great time to ask lots of questions and understand the details of your new role.

Most importantly, don’t forget to get to know your colleagues! They could have great advice for work.

Always keep your work language professional:

Learn from Kimmy Schmidt and keep your language professional (and positive!). Appropriate language sets you up for successful communication and teamwork with your colleagues, helping you excel at your work.

Nobody can give you a motivational pep talk like you:

We should all aspire to be as confident as Schmidt from New Girl. The most important lesson he teaches us is to believe in ourselves. Although this piece of advice might be just as cheesy as the “power of positivity”, it is also one of the most crucial qualities to excelling at your job.

Giving yourself a motivational pep talk in the bathroom mirror is arguably one of the best ways to work past small bumps and challenges.

 Sometimes complaining isn’t an option:

In this GIF, Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada illustrates an extension to our “positive thinking” advice. In short, complaints and excuses are often a poor use of your time. Instead of focusing on the negatives, try asking yourself what you can do to fix it.

Mastering this piece of work advice will allow you to overcome most professional (and personal) obstacles.

Don’t forget to take care of yourself:

While keeping the importance of hard work in mind, always remember to recharge. Working yourself too hard can lead to burn out. In case you are experiencing exhaustion or loss of motivation, give yourself time to play your favorite sport, go out for dinner with friends, or stay in for Netflix and pizza. We all need time to rest.

Know your value:

Finally, remember to stand your ground when needed, and advocate for your own rights when you feel disrespected. Whether you are experiencing problems with colleagues, or feeling overworked, knowing your worth is key.
