Roles

The advantage of working at a start-up company is that as an intern you’ll be able to watch a business grow from the ground up. You’ll also be given many more responsibilities than at a larger company, which means more transferable skills to put on a resume. Entrepreneurship interns in London are placed in a variety roles, thanks to the large amount of start-up communities, think tanks and incubators in the city. Previous interns have worked in PR, marketing, business and general administration.

Living in London

London is a vibrant, bustling city and incredibly multicultural place to live, with more languages spoken than any other city in the world. The Intern Group provides pleasant accommodations for their interns in safe, residential areas of London including Canada Water, Rotherhithe and Surrey Quays. Interns can choose to either live in private bedrooms in high quality shared apartment accommodations or interns have the option to stay with a local family, ideal for those eager to live the full immersion experience.

A city of culture

London is bursting with diversity, arts, culture and historical treasures. The city hosts 17,000 music performances a year and is home to 857 art galleries. Thousands flock to the over 250 festivals a year held in the city, including the biggest street festival in Europe, Notting Hill Carnival. London is also a world capital for live comedy and despite the release of the Kindle, the city continues to boast 800 different bookshops. The city’s historical sectors include four UNESCO world heritage sites, the Tower of London, Maritime Greenwich, Kew’s Royal Botanic Gardens and the Westminster Palace.

Historic treasures

Buckingham Palace is one of the most iconic structures in London. The palace originated as a townhouse for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 and is now home to much of the royal family. The palace has 830,000 square feet of floor space. Entrepreneurship interns in London can check out the space for themselves with a tour of the royal residence.

The Palace of Westminster is home of both houses of the UK Parliament, the House of Commons and the House of Lords. However, Westminster was first built in the eleventh century and was home to the Kings of England up until 1512, when a fire caused severe damage to the structure. Tours of the historic palace are available to overseas visitors.

St. Paul’s Cathedral is another classic London treasure. The Anglican cathedral is the mother church of the London Diocese. The original church dates back to AD 604. The current structure was built in the late 17th century and sits atop the Ludgate Hill, London’s highest point. Interns can check out the English Baroque style and iconic dome with a guided tour.

The West End is particularly known for its theatre scene. Large, mainstream professional shows in London are staged in “Theatreland”, located in the West End. Some of the West End’s longest-running shows include The Mousetrap, Les Misérables and Phantom of the Opera.
