When I started getting ready for my journey I think I stared at my suitcase for a good solid minute trying to decide how to pack for Hong Kong. Well, I’m here now and learned my lesson. I have jotted down some tips that might be of help.

Hiwi’s awesome guide on what to pack for your internship in Hong Kong

1. Resume and business cards

This internship is a *perfect* opportunity for networking. I’m sure this is one of the many reasons you decided to intern abroad. You need to have your business cards and resume in hand to make the most out of the business networks you will forge here.

2. Your favorite home-y spices, snacks and food

Hong Kong is home to many exquisite cuisines from delicious dimsums to noodles. Enjoying these delicacies is one of the many highlights of this experience. The best part is the restaurants here are not only delicious, convenient but affordable too.
That said, there will come a day when you will be craving your favorite dish, spice or snack from home. I know I have.

3. Walking shoes, backpack (large purse), water bottle and coffee mug

The best part about traveling is exploring, and the best kind of exploring is done when you are most comfortable. There is a lot of cool stuff to do in Hong Kong and some of them require a lot of walking and hiking. Make sure to bring all the items mentioned above and explore away.

4. Weather appropriate clothes

It is advisable to bring weather appropriate clothing to go to your internship. Research the weather before you get here and pack accordingly. For instance, if you are going to be here during summer and fall season when it is hot and humid, make sure to pack light-wear, both professional and casual.

5. Your excitement and curiosity

This is the most important thing to pack for your internship. Hong Kong is such a vibrant city and in addition to developing your career, you get to make the most out of your travels. It really is a once in a life time experience, so make the most of it!

Now that you know how to pack for Hong Kong, apply now to boost your career there.
