Internships in Boston are the perfect way to experience one of America’s most wonderful cities. If you love history, sports, city pride, and delicious seafood, Boston might just be the city for you.
Boston is home to some of the country (and the world’s) greatest universities, including Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. That makes the city incredibly young and entrepreneurial, and also means there are endless world-class events to attend. In fact, the university campuses themselves make for an excellent way to spend an afternoon.
The city is home to incredible museums, boasts excellent public transit, and is situated in a conveniently central location along the east coast of the United States. It’s famous for delicious seafood, a friendly atmosphere, and expansive green spaces.
Boston is one of the most historic cities in the U.S., and has the museums to show for it! It played a key role in many of the country’s important historical moments, including the American Revolution. You can easily do a walking tour of the key historic sites, or sign up for a guided experience! If you love history, internships in Boston might be the perfect way to get to know more about the United States.
Boston is extremely accessible, and it’s really easy to get to all parts of the city using public transit. There’s of course the subway, the commuter rail, an extensive bus system, but also water taxis and ferries. Boston is also super walkable, so don’t discount your own two feet! However you choose to get around, whether to your internship or to a tourist destination, there are endless options.
Boston’s museums are absolutely world-class. No matter your interest, there’s a fantastic museum or guided tour for it in Boston. Check out the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Science, or head to Faneuil Hall, once the site of historic speeches about American independence from Britain, now home to a fantastic market. Of course, don’t leave Boston without a trip to the New England Aquarium, which is one of the most impressive in the country.
Another great reason to pursue internships in Boston is the city’s great food. Sitting on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, there’s of course delicious seafood. Clam chowder and lobster rolls are an absolute must-try. But the city is also known for its creme-filled desserts, like Italian cannolis, and Boston Creme Pie. Finally, don’t leave the city without trying Boston Baked Beans, which are slow-cooked in molasses.
Boston is the perfect home base for visiting the most iconic locations along the East Coast. Interns can easily take the train or bus to New York, Washington, D.C., or Providence. Definitely make a trip out to Cape Cod and Nantucket, where you can whale-watch in the summer and experience island life for a few days. Of course, Boston also has an excellent international airport, so it’s easy to catch a flight to anywhere in the country or the world.
Bostonians are nothing if not patriotic. The city supports its sports teams like nowhere else in the country, and luckily for sports fans, they’ve got a team for everything. Check out a Boston Redsox game if you like baseball, and experience the rivalry between Boston and the New York Yankees. If hockey is more your style, check out the Boston Bruins, or head out to watch the Celtics play basketball. Last but not least, turn up to support New England’s beloved Patriots football team.
