The basilica is nevertheless breathtaking. When completed, it will be the tallest religious building in Europe, and will have 18 towers. La Sagrada Familia is also home to the tomb of Antoni Gaudí. Keep in mind that this is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Barcelona, and lines to get inside tend to be long.
World-renowned Spanish artist Pablo Picasso spent much of his life in Barcelona. The Picasso Museum draws fans of the artist from all over the world, and is actually one of the city’s most visited museums. If you don’t mind waiting in line, make sure to check out when the museum offers free entry, as this is a great way to explore Picasso’s art if you’re on a budget.
Futbol Club Barcelona, or FC Barcelona, is a professional football club based in this beautiful seaside city. Locals and tourists alike love cheering for this team, and if you’re lucky enough to catch a game, you’ll feel how proud Barcelona’s residents are of their city. True football fans (or soccer, if you’re American,) can tour Camp Nou, the club’s stadium. But everyone can enjoy a game, and snag a Barcelona jersey as a souvenir.
