Business Insider published an article about why everyone should learn Spanish. Amongst the reasons were the obvious cultural benefits: everything is better in its original language and arguably one of the best books ever written is Spanish, “El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha”. However, as well as being able to fully understand the magical Hispanic culture, the article also highlights what learning Spanish does for your career.
The article states that “according to a Pew Research Center report, an estimated 37.6 million people in the U.S. speak Spanish as their first language and analysts predict the Latin American population will reach approximately 128.8 million by 2060, likely making it the largest Spanish speaking country in the world”. In order to maintain and improve communication with such a large portion of society, companies are in desperate need for Spanish speakers in all sectors. Our programs offer you the chance to learn the language and simultaneously to experience the culture which will put you ahead of your peers when applying for jobs on the global stage.
With regard to Latin America itself, “in 2012 it received a record $174 billion of foreign investment”. The continent’s economy is growing exponentially and in order to keep up, international corporations are targeting its market or expanding there. Our Latin American program offers candidates the chance to experience life in an emerging market and in one of the happiest, Huffington Post argues, and most beautiful countries in the world, Colombia.
Finally, for those of you who feel as if languages aren’t your forte, the article argues that Spanish is easy to learn as it is “almost completely phonetic”. Whether you know nada, un poquito or you’re a fluent Spanish speaker, our programs offer valuable roles and compelling reasons to answer the question of why intern in Latin America or Madrid.
