In this interview, we talk to one of our partner companies, Kids in the Game, to learn more about their thoughts on our service and how our interns have supported their organization.
What made you start working with TIG?
The Intern Group has been a long standing partner with Kids in the Game. We started working partnering with TIG because it gave us the opportunity to connect with people from around the world, and bring their expertise to our programs.
What do you appreciate most about our service?
We love being able to connect with people from so many different backgrounds and experiences. We have had interns supporting several of our departments throughout the years including Community Impact, Program Development, Diversity Equity & Inclusion, and Marketing. Each intern has brought a wealth of knowledge to our youth programs and provided critical support to our team. Every intern we have worked with has been eager to learn and be a part of our larger community as well.
What are your key future goals & plans and how can TIG & interns help you achieve them?
Kids in the Game serves New York City communities through sports-based youth development programming. We operate recess, physical education, after school, and summer camp programs throughout the year. Our goal and ultimate mission is to create positive experiences through sports and creative play. TIG Interns support our team by bringing creative and innovative ideas to our team and programming. They typically have a good pulse on industry standards and changes from their combination of educational and lived experiences in their respective fields. TIG has been an amazing touchpoint to connect us with top talent, and continue to provide fun and exciting programming for the youth of New York City.
Why is it important to help support and provide opportunities to the next generation of employees and how can internships help shape this?
At Kids in the Game, we believe that everyone should be active, try new things, and have positive mentors in their life. Whether we are supporting children in our programs or our employees at work, we believe in developing the next generation for tomorrow. Internships provide young adults with the professional, interpersonal, and technical skills they will need to build their careers. Internships provide opportunities to learn what is available to employees, and how they can use their careers to provide a meaningful impact in their communities. They also connect people to others who can help share their skills, experience, and be a guide as they navigate the world.
