If you had a booking, placement, or program with GVI, this has been a stressful time. GVI’s closure and liquidation has left many people facing cancelled plans and real uncertainty about their finances. We're sorry that so many people have found themselves in this position.
While we previously released a general update on GVI's closure, this post is to share that we've acquired a limited set of digital assets from GVI, and to explain exactly what that does and doesn't include, and why we chose to acquire them.
It’s important to note that we are not GVI. The Intern Group is a separate, independently run organization. We were not involved in GVI's operations, its closure, or the decisions that led to it. For the circumstances of the closure and to lodge a claim, GVI's official statements and appointed liquidators, RG Insolvency, are the right source.
We have not acquired GVI itself, its operations, its liabilities, or its customer agreements. What we've acquired is a limited set of the company's digital assets, namely its educational resources and website domains. These materials represented years of work that helped people build meaningful international experience. Rather than see those resources disappear, we believe it was worthwhile to preserve them where possible and, over time, make some of them available again on The Intern Group’s website. It's a narrow, specific step, not a takeover, and not us stepping into GVI's shoes.
We aren't able to comment on GVI's behalf about refunds or the liquidation process itself. For that, you'll need the official guidance from GVI's appointed liquidators.
Frequently Asked Questions
Has The Intern Group bought GVI?
No. GVI has closed and entered liquidation. We have not purchased the company, taken on its liabilities, or taken over its operations. We have acquired certain intellectual property and digital assets from the company, not GVI itself.
Are you connected to GVI?
No. We are entirely unconnected and had no role in GVI. Questions about the closure and liquidation process should go to GVI's official liquidators.
What exactly did you acquire?
A limited set of digital assets including some website content, website domains and educational resource materials. This does not include GVI's staff contracts, outstanding bookings, or financial obligations.
What did you not acquire?
We did not acquire GVI itself, or its customer contracts, bookings, liabilities, employees, trading operations, or legal obligations.
Will I get a refund through you?
No. Refunds relating to existing GVI bookings are handled through the formal liquidation process run by RG Insolvency, not by us.
Do you have, or did you ever have, my data?
No. Out of respect for those affected, we did not receive or retain any GVI participant records/data. Any GVI customer data was permanently deleted immediately in accordance with applicable data protection requirements and we will not contact any former GVI customers for marketing purposes.
I’m currently on a GVI program, booked to travel soon, or had a future trip booked. What should I do?
You should follow the guidance issued by GVI's appointed liquidators regarding your booking, travel arrangements, payments and any claims process.
Why is The Intern Group doing this?
Following GVI's closure, the appointed liquidators offered certain intellectual property assets for sale. We chose to acquire a limited number of those assets so that valuable educational resources would not be permanently lost.
Why are GVI's website pages now redirecting to The Intern Group?
As part of the digital asset acquisition, ownership of certain GVI domains transferred to The Intern Group. Where appropriate, we've redirected relevant pages so visitors can continue to access useful information rather than encounter broken links or unavailable websites. This does not mean The Intern Group acquired GVI or assumed responsibility for its previous operations or obligations.
Who do I contact with questions?
You should reach out to GVI's appointed liquidators, RG Insolvency, who are responsible for administering the liquidation and communicating with creditors:
