Placement guarantee & financing
-
Yes. The Intern Group placement guarantee is straightforward: if you do not receive an offer for an internship within your primary or secondary career field we will refund you in full.
-
We encourage companies to offer remuneration to interns, however a paid internship cannot be guaranteed.
In many cases, especially if you intern in a foreign destination where payment would violate visa & immigration laws, the internship will be unpaid. Even where immigration law does allow the internship to be paid, a host organization may not offer any compensation.
Our goal is to find the best possible internship placements that provide our participants with the responsibilities, experiences, and skills needed for a successful future and this does not necessarily correlate with payment. Apply now to schedule your interview.

The fees vary depending on the destination and duration of the program. Check out our program fees for more details.
-
If you are accepted into the program, the first step will be to confirm your spot with an enrollment deposit. The cost of this enrollment deposit will depend on the program you choose. 50% of the remaining fee is then due within 30 days of enrollment. If you have accommodation included, the remaining half is due within 21 days of having your internship role confirmed. If you have chosen a non-accommodation option, it must be paid within 5 days of your internship being confirmed.

Application process
-
During the 20-30 minute call with our friendly admissions team, we will first ask you to introduce yourself. After, we will discuss why you want to do an internship, your chosen destinations and career fields, and any other details, such as, how long you wish to do your internship for and whether you require accommodation. It's also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about the program.
-
Applicants are accepted into our programs on a rolling basis. That being said, we recommend applying no later than 3 months before your desired start date for visa purposes. We do offer programs starting every month of the year, but keep in mind that starting dates do fill up far in advance. If your schedule isn't flexible, apply as early as possible! Speak with your admissions consultant about the best start date for you. All of our start dates are available on our destination pages and our program fees page.
-
We want to find the very best participants for our program, which is why we personally interview every candidate. Our expert teams evaluate each applicant to decide whether they are the right fit for our program. While academic performance is taken into account, we also value open-mindedness, a global outlook and a desire to realize your potential.
We know that students and professionals alike have busy schedules and lives, so we try to get you the results of your application as soon as possible. Most applicants will hear from the admissions team within 2 to 3 business days following their interview.
-
Our international internship programs are competitive. Each career field and destination has a limited number of spots, and many have long waiting lists. For these reasons, there is a deadline to confirm your place within 7 days.
-
We have more applicants for our internship programs than places available, receiving over 30,000 applications every year. As a result of high competition, first-time applicants are given priority in our admissions process. Applicants that are reapplying must demonstrate a continued commitment to their professional development, demonstrated on their CV/resume through additional academic, workplace or voluntary experience.
-
You must be at least 18 years old to participate in our in-person internship program, and at least 16 years old to participate in our remote internship program. There is no maximum age limit and we regularly welcome experienced career changers.

About the internship
-
Because we partner with thousands of leading organizations around the world, we do not have a static list of partner companies.
We have dedicated outreach teams working on our participants’ profiles in all program destinations, meaning that our list of host organizations is constantly growing and evolving. We often partner with new companies if we feel that they would be a better match for a participant.
If you are accepted into our program, you are guaranteed a leading role in your primary or secondary career field. However, due to the factors listed above a specific company cannot be guaranteed. Speak with an Admissions consultant about the types of roles and organizations available in your chosen destination!
-
Our placement team will engage in a collaborative internship placement process with you. We guarantee an internship offer within your chosen career fields before the placement deadline, which is 21 days before your internship start date for in-person programs and 7 days before your start date for virtual programs. This is subject to our terms and conditions.
Most of our participants are successful with their very first interview, due to our experienced Placement team putting in a lot of time and energy into ensuring that the best match is found.
-
Successful applicants are guaranteed a professional internship in their primary or secondary career fields. We are highly experienced in internship placement and pride ourselves on successful matches between our participants and our host organizations. All organizations that we work with are extensively vetted to make sure they provide a rewarding internship experience for our participants.
Our confidence in our program is demonstrated by our full money back guarantee - if you are not placed in your primary or secondary career fields, we will refund you in full – giving you peace of mind that you will have a fantastic internship experience abroad.
-
Due to the high volume of applications, our specialized program teams can only work with applicants who have formally confirmed their spot on the program.
-
Although some Spanish knowledge is preferred, due to our extremely strong business links and partner firms, we are able to offer a variety of leading roles that do not have any Spanish language requirement.
-
After making your deposit, you will speak with the placement team to start building your professional profile based on your previous work experience, academic history, and career goals. We take each participant’s feedback into consideration as well, as this is a collaborative placement process.
After creating your professional profile, the placement team will then reach out to our extensive network of host organizations to find a role that best matches your profile. You will then be set up on an interview with the host organization to ensure that it is the best match on both ends. Most of our participants are successful with their very first interview because our placement team puts a lot of time and energy into ensuring that the best match is found.
-
In-person internships are generally full-time, intensive placements, between 35-40 hours per week. Your host organization will set your daily hours, but the majority of internships will take place between 9am and 5pm.
We offer virtual internships for 10, 20, 30 or 40 hours per week. You choose how many hours you can commit to depending on your schedule.
-
We work with universities around the world to assist their students with academic credit requirements. Please speak with your admissions officer about how to apply for credit.
You can learn more about attaining academic credit here.
-
All of the events and activities that we organize are optional. However, they are designed to help you get the very most out of your experience, both personally and professionally, so we always recommend attending!
Travel & accommodation
-
Interns on our program have their own private bedroom, and share common spaces with other interns or international students, depending on the destination
-
We can only guarantee housing for the duration of your internship program. If you would like to stay longer, please speak with your local program coordinator as far in advance as possible to see if there is availability for you to stay on after.

The health and safety of our program participants is our number one priority and all decisions about suspending programs will reflect that commitment. As an organisation with operations across the globe, we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and have implemented safety measures across all of our programs.
We are following the travel advice provided by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office Advice (FCO).
Our policy is to consider a program destination for immediate suspension should the FCO advise against travel to that destination.
The situation is constantly evolving. We will provide advice and assistance to each of our participants pre-program and on-site. We will help participants who do not feel comfortable participating in their original program due to COVID-19 concerns, (either because of their university requirements, or their own decision) by enabling them to change their program and/or start date. Our policy of lifetime credit covers any and all program fees paid – these are valid to be credited towards any program and/or start date in the future.
Where can I find useful resources about travel recommendations?
1. We recommend regularly checking:
2. We also recommend checking your airline’s official website for any updates on travel requirements or potential flight scheduling changes or cancellations. -
Emergency communication
We insist that each intern has a contact listed on their application whom we can notify in case of emergencies.Key local contacts
It is equally important that each intern keeps their contact information updated and has the on-site program coordinator’s contact information.Keeping in touch with home
We encourage our participants to stay in touch with their families and universities so as to keep them updated on their welfare.Copies of travel documents
We advise that participants make a copy of their passport and carry it with them while leaving their original in a safe place in their accommodations. Interns should also keep travel and medical insurance information with them.Be smart
Interns are given extensive pre-departure information about their host city and safety procedures. However, it is up to each individual to make smart choices like learning local laws and customs, telling others where they are going, avoiding walking alone at night, and keeping valuable items in safe places.Standards of behavior
The Intern Group’s standards regarding acceptable behavior are made clear to participants early on. These are firmly reiterated during the welcome orientation, and also are found in the program terms & conditions to which all participants agree.Useful travel information
