If you're considering an internship abroad, one of the most important steps is to ensure that you're eligible for a visa. Without the proper visa, you may not be able to intern abroad in your desired location.
For this reason, it's crucial to consider your eligibility early on in your decision-making the process.
To make it easier for you, we've compiled all the essential visa information for each of our internship program destinations below. Once enrolled in your program, our expert team will provide you with any visa support you might need.

General Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- (If you are under 20 years old) A notarized birth certificate, marriage certificate, and a consent letter from your parents/legal guardian are required.
- You must have a passport with at least 6 months validity.
- You must be a current university student (including community college).
- You must demonstrate sufficient personal financial standing (at least THB 40000, or equivalent).
- You must not have any criminal records.
Visa Rules
- Visa cost (including government fees and other institutions’ fees) is estimated at THB 4000. The Intern Group’s program fee does not cover the visa cost and other associated expenses (e.g. translation, courier, transport, expedition etc) in the process.
- Application time: About 1-3 business weeks at the Thai Embassy.
- Application submission is dependent on a confirmed internship offer.
- Application mode: Online
- Paid internship: ❌ Not allowed in the program.
- Other jobs while interning: ❌ Not allowed.
- Visa validity: Enter Thailand within 90 days upon visa approval.
- Visa duration: Stay in Thailand for up to 90 days upon arrival.
- Visa entry: Single
- A re-entry permit can be applied inside Thailand.
- Early arrival before program starts: Possible ✅ if the total stay does not exceed 90 days.
- Travel to Thailand before visa approval is not advised regardless of whether you are entitled to visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival.
- Late departure after program ends: Possible ✅ if the total stay does not exceed 90 days.
- Visa extension: ❌ Not allowed in the program.
Visa Type
- Non-immigrant Education (ED) Visa

- You must have a passport with at least 6 months validity.
- You must demonstrate sufficient personal financial standing (at least EUR 3000, or equivalent).
- You must demonstrate sufficient health insurance coverage.
- You must not have any criminal records.
- Citizens of EU/EEA and UK are exempted from a visa.
Visa Rules
- Visa cost (including government fees and other institutions’ fees) is estimated at EUR 60. The Intern Group’s program fee does not cover the visa cost and other associated expenses (e.g. translation, courier, transport, expedition etc) in the process.
- Application time: About 10-30 business days at the Irish Embassy
- Application submission is dependent on a confirmed internship offer.
- Application mode: Applications must be submitted in-person in an Irish Embassy with a physical passport.
- Paid internship: ❌ Not allowed.
- Other jobs while interning: ❌ Not allowed.
- Visa validity: Enter Ireland within 90 days upon approval.
- Visa duration: Stay in Ireland for up to 90 days upon arrival.
- Visa entry: Single.
- Early arrival before program starts: Possible ✅ if the total stay does not exceed 90 days.
- Travel to Ireland before visa approval is not advised.
- Late departure after program ends: Possible ✅ if the total stay does not exceed 90 days.
- Visa extension: ❌ Not allowed in the program.
Visa Type- Tourist Visa

General Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must have a passport with at least 12 months validity.
- You must not be a citizen of Afghanistan, mainland China (except overseas), Cuba, or North Korea.
- You must demonstrate sufficient personal financial standing (at least HKD 30,000, or equivalent).
- You must not have any criminal records.
Visa Rules
- Visa cost (including government fees and other institutions’ fees) is estimated at HKD 230. The Intern Group’s program fee does not cover the visa cost and other associated expenses (e.g. translation, courier, transport, expedition etc) in the process.
- Application time: About 4-6 weeks at the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
- Application submission is dependent on a confirmed internship offer.
- Application mode: The Intern Group will submit visa applications on your behalf. Visiting a Chinese Embassy and sending a physical passport are not required.
- Paid internship: ✅ Possible.
- Other jobs while interning: ❌ Not allowed.
- Visa validity: Enter Hong Kong within 90 days upon visa approval.
- Visa duration: Stay in Hong Kong for the exact program duration (not dates) upon arrival.
- Visa entry: Multiple.
- Early arrival before program starts: ❌ Not allowed.
- Travel to Hong Kong before visa approval is not advised regardless of whether you are entitled to visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival.
- Travel to Hong Kong after visa approval and before program starts is not advised because it will lead to an early visa expiry.
- Late departure after program ends: ❌ Not allowed.
- Travel in Hong Kong after program ends requires a 2nd visa to leave & re-enter Hong Kong. No visa switch is allowed inside Hong Kong.
- Visa extension: ✅ Possible.
Visa Type

General Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have a passport with at least 6 months validity.
- You must not be eligible for British citizenship.
- You must be a currently enrolled (not gap year) full-time, in-person university degree student (community college included); or a recent graduate (within 60 months when the internship starts).
- You must demonstrate sufficient personal financial standing (GBP 1270+, or equivalent) for at least 28 days consecutively at the time of visa application.
- You must demonstrate sufficient English proficiency (IELTS: 6.0 or up; iTEP: B2 or up).
- You must not have been approved for the same visa more than twice or for more than 12 months stay combined.
- Irish nationals, and UK residents with EUSS/Student/Graduate Routes are exempted from a visa.
Visa Rules
- Visa cost (including government fees and other institutions’ fees) is estimated at GBP 1047-1300. The Intern Group’s program fee does not cover the visa cost and other associated expenses (e.g. translation, courier, transport, expedition etc) in the process.
- Application time: About 6-8 weeks upon submission of a visa sponsorship application.
- Application submission is dependent on a confirmed internship offer.
- Applicants must apply for visa sponsorship with an authorized UK visa sponsor (assigned by the program), before applying for a visa at UK Visa & Immigration (UKVI).
- Application mode: It must take place in the country of citizenship/residency. Traveling abroad within 30 days before the internship is not advised.
- (for EU nationals) Online application;
- (for others) In-person application at a UKVI centre with a physical passport.
- Paid internship: ✅ Possible.
- Other jobs while interning: ❌ Not allowed.
- Visa validity: Enter UK no more than 14 days before the internship start date.
- Visa duration: Stay in UK for up to 14 days after the internship end date.
- Visa entry: Multiple.
- Early arrival before program starts: Possible ✅ if it does not exceed 14 days before the internship start date.
- Travel to UK before visa approval is not advised.
- Late departure after program ends: Possible ✅ if it does not exceed 14 days after the internship end date.
- Visa extension: ❌ Not allowed.
Visa Type

General Eligibility
- You must have a passport with at least 6 months validity.
- You must maintain sufficient financial standing (at least EUR 3000, or equivalent, per every month of your intended stay in Spain) at the time of application.
- You cannot apply for a program longer than 12 weeks if you are a citizen of a Spanish-speaking country outside of the EU.
- If your program lasts longer than 12 weeks, you must sign up for a program-designated Spanish class in Spain in order to be eligible to apply for a Study Visa. Please consult The Intern Group for more information about the price and procedure.
- Citizens of EEA are exempted from a visa. See a comprehensive list of countries whose nationals are subject to or exempt from visa obligations here.
Visa Rules
- You must apply in-person, to the Spain Embassy in the country of your citizenship/long-term residence.
- The Intern Group will provide you with an invitation letter and proof of accommodation for entry to Spain (if applicable).
- The visa is valid for 90 days and lasts for 90-180 days.
- Except for EEA citizens or long-term residents, you are not permitted to stay in Schengen Area (including Spain and 20+ European countries) for more than 90 days in the past 180 days.
- You must not engage in paid activities in Spain.
- Visa cost is estimated at EUR 80. If your visa application requires enrollment in a local language school, there will be an additional EUR 2000-4000, subject to the duration. The Intern Group’s program fee does not cover the government cost and other associated expenses regarding this visa application (if any).
Visa Type- Schengen Visa (type C - tourism) / ETIAS
- National Visa (type D - study)

- You must not stay in Colombia for more than 90 days within 365 days before the program starts.
Visa Rules
- Visa cost (including government fees and other institutions’ fees) is estimated at USD 30. The Intern Group’s program fee does not cover the visa cost and other associated expenses (e.g. translation, courier, transport, expedition etc) in the process.
- Application time: About 10 business days at the Colombian Embassy.
- Application submission is not dependent on a confirmed internship offer.
- Application mode: Online.
- Paid internship: ❌ Not allowed.
- Other jobs while interning: ❌ Not allowed.
- Visa validity: Enter Colombia within 365 days upon visa approval.
- Visa duration: Stay in Colombia for up to 90 days upon arrival.
- Visa entry: Multiple.
- Early arrival before program starts: Possible ✅ if the total stay does not exceed 90 days.
- Travel to Colombia before visa approval is not advised.
- Late departure after program ends: Possible ✅ if the total stay does not exceed 90 days.
- Visa extension: Possible ✅ for 90 days.
- Maximum total stay is 180 days in the past 365 days.
Visa Type- Visitor Visa (V-3)

General Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 and at most 31 years old.
- You must have a passport with at least 12 months validity.
- You must be a citizen of one of these countries: Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Chile, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Türkiye, Uruguay, UK, USA.
- You must demonstrate functional English proficiency.
- You must demonstrate sufficient personal financial standing (at least AUD 5,000, or equivalent).
- You must demonstrate a support letter from your government if required.
- You must not have a visa refusal history by Australia
- You must not have any criminal records
- You must not have any outstanding debts payable to Australia.
- New Zealand nationals, subclass 500/485 visa holders are exempted from a visa.
Visa Rules- Visa cost (including government fees and other institutions’ fees) is estimated at AUD 650. The Intern Group’s program fee does not cover the visa cost and other associated expenses (e.g. translation, courier, transport, expedition etc) in the process.
- Application time: About 1-5 weeks at the Australian Department of Home Affairs.
- Application submission is not dependent on a confirmed internship offer.
- Application mode: Online.
- Paid internship: ✅ Possible.
- Other jobs while interning: ✅ Possible.
- Visa validity: Enter Australia within 365 days upon visa approval.
- Visa duration: Stay in Australia for up to 365 days upon arrival.
- Visa entry: Multiple.
- Early arrival before program starts: Possible ✅ if the total stay does not exceed 365 days.
- Travel to Australia before visa approval is not advised.
- Late departure after program ends: Possible ✅ if the total stay does not exceed 365 days.
- Visa extension: ❌ Not allowed.
Visa Type- Work and Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)
- Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417)

General Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must have a passport with at least 6 months validity after the internship end date.
- Academic requirement:
- You must be currently enrolled (not gap year) in a full-time, in-person, degree-granting university program (relevant to the internship) outside of USA (community college included), having completed at least 1 semester; or
- A recent graduate (within 12 months when the internship starts) in a full-time, in-person, degree-granting university program (relevant to the internship) outside of USA (community college included); or
- A non-recent graduate (beyond 12 months when the internship starts) in a full-time, in-person, degree-granting university program (relevant to the internship) outside of USA (community college included), with at least 1 year of full-time, relevant work experience outside of USA; or
- With at least 5 years of relevant work experience outside of USA, regardless of academic background
- You must demonstrate sufficient personal financial standing (at least USD 1500, or equivalent, per every month of the internship).
- You must demonstrate sufficient return evidence that you will not overstay in USA.
- Yoy must not have been approved for the same visa in the past 24 months.
- US Green Card holders, and F1 visa holders are exempted from a visa.
Visa Rules
- Visa cost (including government fees and other institutions’ fees) is estimated at USD 1200-2500, subject to program duration. The Intern Group’s program fee does not cover the visa cost and other associated expenses (e.g. translation, courier, transport, expedition etc) in the process.
- Application time: About 8 weeks upon submission of a visa sponsorship application.
- Application submission is dependent on a confirmed internship offer.
- Applicants must apply for visa sponsorship with an authorized US visa sponsor (assigned by the program), before applying for a visa at a US embassy.
- Application mode: It is advised to apply in the country of citizenship/residency. Traveling abroad within 30 days before the internship is not advised.
- (for Canada/Bermuda nationals) Online application;
- (for others) In-person application at a US Embassy with a physical passport.
- Paid internship: ✅ Possible.
- Other jobs while interning: ❌ Not allowed.
- Visa validity: Enter the USA no more than 30 days before the internship start date.
- Visa duration: Stay in the USA for up to 30 days after the internship end date.
- Visa entry: Multiple.
- Early arrival before program starts: Possible ✅ if it does not exceed 30 days before the internship start date.
- Travel to the USA before visa approval is not advised.
- Late departure after program ends: Possible ✅ if it does not exceed 30 days after the internship end date.

- Application time: About 1 business week at the Japanese Embassy.
- Application submission is dependent on a confirmed internship offer.
- Application mode: Online application is accepted for residents in Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, UK, USA; Otherwise, applications must be submitted in-person at a Japanese Embassy with a physical passport.
- Paid internship: ❌ Not allowed.
- Other jobs while interning: ❌ Not allowed.
- Visa validity: Enter Japan within 90 days upon visa approval.
- Visa duration: Stay in Japan for up to 90 days upon arrival.
- Visa entry: Single.
- To stay beyond 90 days, a 2nd visa is required to leave & re-enter Japan. No visa extension is allowed inside Japan.
- Early arrival before program starts: Possible ✅ if the total stay does not exceed 90 days.
