Accommodation
Private bedroom
Interns in New York are perfectly situated to explore and enjoy all that the city has to offer, while being comfortable and safe. All program participants will have their own private bedroom which is equipped with WiFi, included utilities, 24/7 security, and on-site shared laundry facilities.
Shared bedroom
As a way to meet new people from around the world, we offer the option to room with another like-minded individual. Interns will share an ensuite bathroom, kitchenette, and wardrobe with one other intern or student. This shared accommodation option is also equipped with WiFi, basic linens, included utilities, an on-site laundry facility, and 24/7 security.
Due to limited availability, we are unable to guarantee shared room housing in New York. Rooms are assigned based upon program durations and availability which means we are not able to fulfill every request for shared housing. By selecting the shared housing option you will be placed on a waiting list. If no shared housing is available for your program dates, you will be placed in a private room and the full program pricing will be charged.
Visa Information
General Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must hold a passport with at least 6 months validity after the intended end date of the internship.
- You must be either:
- Currently studying at a degree-granting post-secondary academic institution outside USA; or
- Have graduated from a degree-granting post-secondary academic institution outside USA no more than 12 months prior to the internship; or
- Has a degree from a post-secondary academic institution outside of USA and at least 1 year of relevant work experience outside USA; or
- Has at least 5 years of relevant work experience outside USA.
- Your online or part time degrees are ineligible.
- Your internship must be relevant to your degree or full time employment.
- You must maintain sufficient financial standing (at least USD 1500, or equivalent, per every month of your intended stay in US) at the time of application
- You must demonstrate sufficient return evidence that you will not overstay in USA after the internship.
- US nationals, US Green Card holders, and F1 visa holders are exempted for a visa.
Visa Rules
- The procedure is to first secure a sponsorship (from an authorized US visa sponsor), then a visa (from the US Embassy). The process takes at least 6 weeks.
- Visa cost is estimated between USD 1200 – 2500, subject to your program duration and other factors. The Intern Group’s program fee does not cover the government cost and other associated expenses regarding this visa application.
- The visa is valid for 30 days and lasts the same as your program duration, upon arrival.

Career Advancement Training
Interns benefit from career advancement tools before, during, and following their internship program. These tools enable you to successfully prepare for your internship before you start, make the most of your experience while you’re there, and successfully sell your experience in interviews to future employers.
You will be asked to take a pre-program DDI International workplace personality and skills assessment and will be given access to a library of training materials designed to help you succeed. These materials include tips and advice on interview techniques, adapting to international working environments, making a lasting impression in the workplace, and building your personal brand.
During your internship, training is delivered through a combination of videos, podcasts, articles, quizzes, and projects and you will receive a LinkedIn badge upon completion. Subjects include critical thinking, oral/written communication, teamwork, digital technology, leadership, professionalism, career management, and global/intellectual fluency.
You will also be granted access to our CV improvement tool, helping you to effectively communicate your achievements and skills to future employers program.
Alumni success coaching
We partner with experienced career coaches to provide participants with a personalized, one hour career coaching session upon completing the program. Participants choose from our portfolio of experts who they would like to guide them through their next steps after their international internship. These are just a few of the topics covered:

Keynote speaker series
Our internship program includes 12 months access to our interactive keynote speaker series featuring global business leaders. Our accomplished keynote speakers are well known for their extensive expertise and success across different career fields. These live online talks take place every two weeks and give you the chance to learn what it really takes to make it. You have the opportunity to ask live questions in the Q & A section of every talk.

Our on-the-ground New York Team team offers 24/7 support with local expertise, from start to finish. They are incredibly proud of the city’s life & culture and they want to show you why! They will organize your airport pick-up when you arrive and provide a thorough welcome orientation to help you settle into the city. Our New York team is available throughout your internship program should you have any questions or queries.
We also partner with Talkspace to provide all our participants with fully anonymous access to a licensed online therapist for up to 3 months. This ensures you’ll always have someone to talk to when adjusting to life in your new city.
